As you can see, you can buy this with or without Front Light, with the base Amazon Kindle Scribe variant coming with 16GB storage. The Scribe Colorsoft variant comes in two color options – Graphite and Fig.

2025 Amazon Kindle Scribe Technical Details

Regular Kindle Scribe models ( 3rd Gen ) feature an 11-inch glare-free display, while the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft ( 1st Gen ) variant comes with an 11-inch glare-free color display.

In Black & White mode, it delivers a sharp 300 PPI resolution, and in Color mode it offers 150 PPI.

Battery life differs between the two: the regular Kindle Scribe lasts up to 12 weeks of reading or 3 weeks of writing on a full charge, whereas the Colorsoft model offers up to 8 weeks of reading and 2 weeks of writing.

Both displays include an auto-adjusting front light (on models equipped with front lighting).

Unlike the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, neither Scribe model carries an IPX8 waterproof rating.

The Scribe Colorsoft’s new 11-inch Colorsoft panel is built on a custom oxide-based display technology that delivers paper-like color with high contrast and smooth, flash-free writing.

According to Amazon, this device does not currently offer system-wide Dark Mode, and features like Story So Far and Ask This Book will roll out in 2026.

Both versions support 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks with WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 security.

The box includes the Kindle Scribe or Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, a Premium Pen, a USB-C charging cable, and replacement pen tips. Each device fully charges in under 2.5 hours when using a 20W USB-C adapter.
